A Legacy of Love: Dan & Sondra’s Gift
When Dan and Sondra decided to build with Stonewood, they did more than create a home for themselves. They became part of a transformative circle of giving, where one family’s blessing becomes another family’s answered prayer.
In El Yalu, a family of twelve living in conditions most of us can hardly imagine, now has reason to hope. Through your partnership with us and The 141 Project, Geronimo and Rosa’s family will soon have the space, dignity, and security that every family deserves.
Life Changes for a Family of Twelve
Geronimo and Rosa are not asking for much—they’re asking for what we often take for granted: space to breathe, room to sleep, a place where their children can study and grow. With ten children ranging in age from one to nineteen years old, their current home—a single cinder block room—simply cannot hold their family’s dreams.
Geronimo (47) and his oldest sons work as day laborers in the fields, each earning just $9 a day. Rosa (38) manages the household and cares for their youngest children. Despite their limited formal education, both parents have instilled in their children a strong desire to learn. Their kids have pursued schooling whenever possible, showing remarkable resilience and determination.
Geronimo and Rosa share their heartfelt gratitude to Dan & Sondra.
Today, the family sleeps together in one room with a concrete floor. Their kitchen—a small structure of tin sheets with dirt flooring—is where Rosa prepares meals for her large family on a daily budget that most of us couldn’t imagine. Each day presents new challenges, but their faith and love for one another keeps them going.
Rosa’s words capture the heart of their need: “The room we are applying for will be the bedroom for half of my younger children. This will finally give them their own space to rest and dream.”
Joy fills the air as the family receives their completed home.
From Dreams to Reality
This new room represents so much more than brick and concrete. It’s a testament to what happens when compassion meets action. Through The 141 Project, Geronimo and Rosa’s long-held dream is becoming tangible reality. Ten children now have hope that their mother’s vision—space for the younger ones to grow, study, and rest properly—will soon be fulfilled.
Your gift to Dan and Sondra has created a ripple effect that reaches across borders and circumstances. It’s a reminder that generosity doesn’t just build walls; it builds futures, restores dignity, and demonstrates Christ’s love in the most practical, powerful way.
A family transformed. A legacy of love and hope for generations to come.
Thank you, Dan and Sondra, for choosing to bless beyond your own home. Thank you for seeing Geronimo and Rosa’s family not as statistics, but as neighbors worthy of dignity and hope. Your partnership with Stonewood has changed the story of a family of twelve—and that story will continue to echo through the lives of their children for years to come.
