I’ll admit, this stuff is way over my head… But it is fascinating & proof that we have the best carpenters in the country working on our homes.
Yesterday at the Edina jobsite, our master stair builder Steve mentioned “18th century square tangent line calculations” he was working on as he was fitting a section of handrail. Huh? Then I saw a pattern he had developed for the curving and stoping stair rail… I did a bit of research on his technique, and am amazed at the math and thought that goes into something so common place in our homes.
